The current fiber-arts catalog contains 1,974 items occupying about 25.9 GB.
That includes 913 books and references, 943 patterns / leaflets / booklets, and 106 magazine issues. It also includes 1,096 rows that still need some kind of metadata work.
That last number is the important one. A library becomes useful when you can actually answer questions about what is in it. Old numeric leaflets, duplicate scans, mirror-site suffixes, incomplete author names, and multiple copies in different folders all turn “I have the file” into “I cannot find the thing I know I have.”
The Fiber room is going to treat cleanup as part of the collection rather than an embarrassing backstage chore.
